Eloise's life is well... a complicated one.

She doesn't really remember much about her parents, but she knows one thing- she was born in Dublin, Ireland and lived there until she was 2 years old, after which she moved to the Avery Manor in Edinburgh, Scotland. The main reason as to why she moved was because her parents died. Her father was found dead by the staircase of their townhouse, while Eloise was found asleep in her bedroom on the first floor. There was no sign of her mother. Her grandparents had received an anonymous tip explaining the situation. No one was able to find out the true cause of death for her father, or find out when he died. Her mother was never found.

Because of the status of the Avery family (in general, they tend to be extremely well-known and respected within the British and Irish wizarding society and also are some of the most well-known proponents of blood supremacy), naturally this caused quite a scandal. After all, this was the Avery heir people were talking about- he was dead and there was no explanation. This was unacceptable. Lord Andrew Avery's death thus quickly became highly politicized. In Muggle society, his death became the symbol of anti-immigration arguments. This was because his death was linked to increasing crime due to an influx of immigrants, although there was absolutely no proof of this. In the Wizarding society, his death was used to illustrate the dangers of "mixing"- allowing muggles and half-bloods into the WIzarding society as it posed a danger not only to the society, but also to the existence of magic itself. Eloise grew up in this environment.

But her childhood was anything but ideal. Distant and aloof grandparents who always viewed her in the light of failure- no matter what she did was ever satisfactory to them. Constantly, she was compared to her father's achievements. Her mother was not a topic to be mentioned ever. Harsh and cold, Eloise quickly found relief in the nature around her. Often sneaking off to play in the woods around the Manor, she grew to have a deep appreciation for nature and her many elements. And that is reflected in her magical interests today as well- she is strongest in nature-based magic and spells.

In Hogwarts, Eloise was sorted into Slytherin. No real surprise there, considering her grandparents and her father had been prominent Slytherins themselves. Her mother however, was a Ravenclaw. Now this is where it gets interesting. During the sorting ceremony, only Eloise knows how close she really was to be sorted into Ravenclaw. And that experience never really left her. Constantly feeling like a fraud, Eloise decided that she had to "prove herself" to be worthy of being in Slytherin. And that meant hanging around with the wrong group of people. To be fair, these were the only people she had known her entire life- children of families allied with her own. This meant that these children often had the same aggressive views on blood supremacy as her own grandparents. But she would soon find out that just being in their friend group was not enough. By her fourth year, her friend group had begun to pick on muggle and half-blood students. While Eloise never liked to participate in these activities, she did join in occasionally.

Her wake up call came mid-fourth year when her grades were low enough that she was concerned that she would be put on academic probation. This meant her grandparents would be notified and that just was not an option. Already there was so much pressure on her from them and she just could not risk it. And that meant that she had to suddenly devote more time studying. Naturally, Eloise did not ask anyone for help, not that anyone would help her anyway. The girls in her friend group were hardly concerned about their grades. They knew fully well that they would marry within their friend group, into one of the pureblood families and then lead the lives of rich socialites. So why on earth did grades even matter? And as for the other students, Eloise had alienated them pretty well given her earlier activities. And thus, she was left no choice but to study alone.

Slowly, Eloise began spending more and more time at the library, which meant she spent less time with her friends. Eventually, they just got frustrated and severed ties with her, blacklisting her pretty much through out the Slytherin house. Given how used to spending time alone she had gotten, this was really not a problem for her. The amount of catching up she had to do with respect to the OWLs however, was. And thus, she found a tutor- the reluctant Theodore Nott. Pretty well respected (rather feared) within Slytherin, he was notorious for not committing to any specific clique and basically spending time alone. Yes, he was a loner in other words. But given how drama-free he was, he reluctantly agreed to tutor her.

Soon, they began to spend more and more time together, studying. Eventually, she did manage to do "decently well" in her OWLs according to her grandparents and by their 6th year, both of them had begun to date each other later that year. Eloise, not wanting to draw too much attention, wanted to keep it private. Of course, this hardly lasted too long given her grandmother's rather efficient network of information spread across the British Wizarding world. By their 7th year, it was common knowledge that Eloise and Theo were dating, not that it was much of a surprise to anyone at Hogwarts, or within their circle at all.

‣ Eloise is both popular and unpopular at the same time. Feared and resented for her previous actions and associations with blood supremacy, she is also idolized by many, especially the newer students who do not know much of her past. They look up to her, primarily due to her last name and the privilege that comes with it.
‣ At Hogwarts, Eloise took the opportunity to look through the archives to learn about her mother considering she was not allowed to speak of her at home. What she found was utterly startling though- no records of her mother ever existed. And when she reached out to speak to her mother's parents (her own grandparents), they denied her existence too, saying that they had never heard of Althia, much less were parents of her. This was one of the main things that made her drop that case all together. And she doesn't plan on revisiting it anytime soon.

Theo's life has always been colorful, and for the wrong reasons.

Born to Gergory and Zoriana Todd in London, UK, Theo's childhood was terrible since birth. His mother and father did not have a happy marriage at all. The marriage was arranged and was designed to be a business agreement. At first, Gregory appeared to be a great guy but that would soon prove to be wrong. As soon as they were married, he became abusive towards Zoriana. First it was just verbal, but after Theo was born, it became physical as well. In fact, it got so bad that there was a period where Zoriana fled with Theo back to Ukraine to live with her parents' because the abuse had become so bad. They returned for a week because Gregory claimed he had changed and wanted to make amends. This of course, would be a lie. A week into their life back in London, Theo's aunt, Ksenia dropped in for a surprise visit, attending a conference in London. What she found was horrifying- Zoriana dead.

Based on the autopsy, Zoriana had died due to the infliction of wounds caused by aggressive magic, similar to the kind her husband specialized in. The autopsy also revealed that she had died a little before her sister had gotten there. After finding her sister dead, Ksneia took her nephew back to Ukraine with her. Later, the Saphieha's would learn that Gregory actually had been fired from Hogwarts for inciting blood supremacy and was involved with several blood-supremacy-related crimes across the UK. All of this, along with him being the primary suspect in his wife's death made him highly wanted criminal.

At the time of his mother's death, Theo was 7 years old. For the next 4 years, Theo was raised by his grandparents in Ukraine. Very prominent in the wizarding and muggle worlds for their political involvement in post-war Ukrainian politics and military, the advancement of magical creature and animals rights, Theo was raised to love and appreciate all animals, especially dragons.

At the age of 11, despite heavy criticism from his family, Theo decided to attend Hogwarts. Naturally, his family was against it. In the end, they were convinced primarily because Zoriana's cousin and close friend, Svetlana lived in the UK and had agreed to be Theo's guardian while he attended Hogwarts.

Theo's time at Hogwarts was well, uneventful for the first few years. The first year he joined the school, his father escaped from Azkaban. Even before that, people were intimidated by him, but after he escaped, they were downright scared. Then, there was the fact that some people loved him, others were terrified of him. Both did for the same reasons- his father. His father had been a major proponent of blood supremacy, and those who supported his ideals held him in high regard and often extended it to his son too. Theo however, was never a fan of discussing his father and thus, kept to himself for the most part of his time at Hogwarts.

It was really in his mid-4th year that he slowly started coming out of his shell. The reason for that was simple- Eloise Avery. Unlike most people, he really did not have an opinion on her. It just so happened that they took a lot of classes together and in the second half of their 4th year, he would often see her studying in the library. On some occasions, they'd even study together. On one such occasion, she asked him to tutor her, considering his grades were the highest in their year. He outright declined, explaining that he didn't want to deal with the drama that came with her. A few weeks later, he would change his decision and that was because he had seen that she had shed her group of bratty, entitled, pureblood kids.

The deal was simple- help Eloise succeed in her OWLs. It was later when he began to tutor her did he see how monumental the task really was. She was a good 6-7 months behind on her academics and had her friends to thank for that. If she wanted to please her grandparents, she'd have to really commit to studying. In the end, she did. They would spend entire days together in the library, and when they were kicked out, they'd move their sessions to his room. Eloise hated her roommate, and his had left at the start of the year, fearing Theo's reputation. Eventually, their goal was met- Eloise did pretty well in her OWLs. But that cost Eloise the friendship of her former group. In hindsight, that would be for the best.

In their 5th year, both of them began to spend more and more time together. This would continue in their 6th year. Mid-6th year, they began to date secretly. Eloise did not want to deal with the publicity and didn't want to draw attention to herself. This of course, was like music to Theo's ears and he did not object at all. In the end, Eloise's grandmother found out due to her network of spies (whom she called friends but whatever), and eventually, their relationship became public. Even then, it really wasn't a surprise to their peers at Hogwarts, most of whom assumed they were dating anyway.

Let's put it simply- he hates his father. Like really really hates him. If he could, he'd disown him. He loves his mother's side of the family and finds them to be normal and stable people, unlike his psychotic father.

Apart from being biologically related to him, Theo has absolutely no sentiments towards him. In fact, if he could, Theo would probably turn him in himself. He absolutely despises his father with every fiber of his being. And there are multiple reasons for this- his abusive childhood, possibly killing his mother to name a few.

As a child, Theo was very close to his mother. Brought up in Ukraine with her family, he feels more strongly for them and her than he does for his father. Unfortunately, she died when he was still a child. Theo always knew that his parents' marriage was rocky- he had seen his father be abusive towards his mother on some occasions. Always sympathetic and protective of her, Theo despises his father for possibly killing her.

Svetlana was Zoriana's close friend and cousin. Growing up, the two were inseparable. In fact, one of the reasons as to why Zoriana even agreed to marry Gregroy and move to the UK was to spend more time with Svetlana, who had moved away from Ukraine to the UK after graduating from Koldovstoretz. It was later the fact that Svetlana lived in London that convinced Theo's grandparents to send him to Hogwarts under the condition that she would be his guardian in the UK. Theo, having spent enough time with her, sees her as both a partial motherly figure and also as a friend. After all, despite being old enough to be his mother, Svetlana isn't really the most maternal figure around.

Purebloods, they have been associated with championing the rights and establishing the level of care for magical creatures (specifically dragons) and muggle animals at the same time. Additionally, their family is also one of the oldest Eastern European magical families and have both wizards as well as other creatures like Veelas in their lineage. Their lineage is also deeply connected to Ukranian history and politics. Originally, the Sapiehas were Boyars, Ukranian nobility. In the early modern period, they grew in prominence and became one of the premier noble lines under the Romanovs and were categorized as Royalist sympathizers and supporters. In recent political history, several members of the Sapieha family have held high ranking positions in Ukrainian politics and the army.
