Star Beam's Main Rapper & Maknae get real about preparing for their first world tour, being the new MCs & dealing with haters online while being their most unfiltered yet respectful selves. Since they made a made 2 comebacks early this year, Star Beam once again is on their usual grind to promote in music shows with coming home with different music show trophies thanks to their unique concepts in their latest album “S/S 2019” & its repackaged version.
They said that “S/S 2019” is a split album wherein they discuss themes of emotions occurred in spring & summer. The spring part which was released in late February was created a buzz for its fairytale concept. Its title track, “I Am” is R&B pop song which its concept was based on the “Swan Lake”. Style wise, they fused dreamy fairytale looks with street style edge to merge the concept of “Odette” (white swan) & “Odille” (black swan). Meanwhile the summer part is creating hype for its feel good summer tracks which reminded of 80s-00s teen flicks when it was released last May. Its title track, “Hit That Drum” is well received by many for its majorette concept which reminded them of High School Musical’s liveliness & After School’s “Bang” era. Instead of stereotypical military jacket, they wear military style dresses & high waist shorts paired with different tops during live performances.
Aside from the uniqueness & liveliness, “Hit That Drum” was creating a buzz for having the same comeback date as NCT 127’s “Superhuman” and all of the Star Beam & NCT 127 members laughed at the idea of them bumping into each other for a lot times at music shows. Of course, not everyone will love an idea for someone who came from a small company hanging out & befriending a big 3 group who is gearing up for the global superstardom. But then again, they don't mind at all. Even without the buzz of having the same comeback date with a boy band full of talented & handsome young men, Star Beam still manage to create the name of themselves ever since by earning awards inside & outside of Korea, the general public continues to adore them, & their idol colleagues & staff have only nice words for them
Q: How do you react on you will have your own world tour?
JA: Of course, we were all shocked because many want to have us in their events especially in different countries and I just found out that our company declined some of the events. Instead they told us that we will have our own world tour instead
YJ: It was really unbelievable like our company really trusted us to perform since our debut. Like "Unnies, Am I dreaming? Unnies, please pinch my cheeks". I thought that world tour was really far fetched in our mindsQ: Yeah but it happened. How they told you that you will have you own world tour?
YJ: After BBMAs & filming our MV, "Hit That Drum" in the US, they just told us that, "Girls, you will go on tour" and we were like: "Are you all kidding us?"
JA: And then they mentioned to us all the tour stops & I keep on wondering, how did we do it in order to reach to this point? Yeah, what I know is we will have our own solo concert for "S/S 2019" but yeah~~~ many ByulBis wanted us to perform in their countries, so here we are
Q: How Do you prepare yourselves for your world tour?
YJ: Jeonah unnie is kind of girl who wants to bring her Nintendo on world tour
JA: Yujia sucks in packing light
YJ: YAAAAAAAAAAAA, actually all of us do
JA: Aside from packing things, we also try to exercise while on breaks
Q: You have any diet before going on tour?
JA: No. we just eat in moderation. I mean, we can't live without rice. Also we are so used to move around everyday aside from performing
YJ: Yeah, there is not a whole day stuck in the dorm playing computer games since all of of us lived togetherQ: Aside from being gorgeous members
(YJ: No~)~~ You are also the new MCs of music shows. Jeonah is MCs with AB6IX's Daehwi & model Han Hyunmin on M Countdown while Yujia is with NCT 127's Johnny in Music Bank. How is like working with them?
JA: Daehwi & Hyunmin? They reminded of my younger brother so it's easy for me to interact with them. Also these guys are very professional & hardworking
YJ: Working with Johnny oppa is very fun & he likes to crack jokes with me & he encourages me to make adlibs & wear a weird costume because just the thought of it, it's already funny He looks funny in a merman costume Sometimes he stares at me while practicing
Q: Hey Yujia, he actually looks like a merman prince
YJ: Yeah, he is so cute tho As a mermaid princess, I approved 
Q: Do you think there is one of NCT 127 members have a crush on one of your unnies?
YJ: I don't know and who they think we are? We are not worthy to be called their crush There are a lot of K-netizens calling us "out of NCT 127's league" because they think that there are girl groups who are more beautiful & popular than us who deserved to come into their lives. But we tried our best to show everyone that we are worthy enough to be in our place right now. Actually, we don't have to make them fall in love with one of us. But if it happened? I don't know 
NCT 127 sunbaenims are one of our inspirations as a group so we are so happy to meet them 
Q: So how do you deal with haters online?
JA: We just ignore those comments & used it as a motivation for us to work harder. But of course, it's not easy. We just have to be honest that we are hurt by those comments. Good thing we have a supportive staff & ByulBis to cheer for us everyday so we're very happy
Q: I love how positive you are, what can we expect on your first world tour?
JA: New performances? Yeah, we will switch up a bit in some performances
Q: So let's talk about the upcoming STRBM THE LIVE series, how do you come up with those?
YJ: A lot of ByulBis can't afford a ticket to a concert so we decided to release those videos of us singing live. Something like live session performances by a lot of artists. And we will perform it live in our encore concert. I hope you all anticipate it
