Roksana is everything you would expect from a modern Princess: well-mannered, graceful, cultured, calm, patient, intelligent, and effortlessly elegant. Always perceptive, and observant, Roksana is often exceedingly aware of everything going on around her- people's behaviors, their desires, strengths, weaknesses- everything. She may not be the most outgoing, but she most certainly knows everything going on around her. After all, she's a Yusupov. It's what they do.
Having said this, the Roksana stands out at Mei to say the least. Quiet, withdrawn and aloof, Roksana generally tends to keep to herself. She likes it to be honest. In her experience, the living tend to come with their own string of complicated emotions and drama, all of which she prefers to avoid. Thus, she enjoys her own company for the most part. Or at least it seems this way. In reality, Roksana is never alone. Nor can she be, regardless of how much she may want to be. While the world sees her to be alone, the matter of the fact is that she constantly has the dead hanging around her. This is due to multiple reasons, primarily the fact that she can communicate with them rather well and they like that. After all, it's not every day that dead spirits come across someone like Roksana who not only can communicate with them well, but actually enjoys to doing so. Because of this, Roksana enjoys being at rather secluded places that the living are unlikely to visit- secluded forests, cemeteries, walking around in the dead of the nigh, that sort of thing. Naturally, the students at Mei are not too comfortable around her. Then, her reputation at Mei comes as no surprise- a lover of the occult, and all things morbid. In fact, Roksana is known for her trademark aura of haunting melancholy and an impending sense of doom. At Mei, people usually go out of their way to avoid her, and Roksana of course enjoys this- they leave her alone, and she's happy. Plus, she enjoys her rather dark reputation at Roksana. She enjoys making the people around her, the living that is, uncomfortable. She gains great amusement from this.
On the whole, Roksana is intelligent. Very intelligent. A bit of a feme fetale, Roksana is exceedingly charming. Almost always seen dressed in black, red, white or purple, Roksana's aesthetic is morbid, gothic glamour. Equal parts mystery, danger and sexiness, Roksana usually has the male species eating out of the palms of her hands- and she knows it. Fiercely independent, sharp-witted, sarcastic, self-serving, and destructively manipulative, Roksana often is used to doing whatever it takes to achieve her goals: "all that matters are the results, not the method or the cost." Dangerously ambitious, Roksana is not impulsive. No. She is the kind of person who plans every single detail in advance, making sure that the outcomes are up to her standard. And she will not be satisfied if they're not. Highly observant and perceptive, Roksana enjoys idly observing the people around her- their behavior, desires, hopes, ambitions, secrets- all of it. She enjoys doing so. After all, she's got both Yusupov and Phalavi blood flowing through her veins. it would be odd if she didn't do so.
But what sets Roksana apart from her other relatives would be her morals. And she hates it. While her other relatives are willing to do what it takes to achieve their goal, regardless of its cost, Roksana's morals do influence her actions. Even if its only marginal. Underneath her tough exterior, Roksana has a heart of gold- she enjoys watching really cheesy romantic comedies (if you ask her about it, she'll deny it in a heartbeat), adores chocolate and decadent deserts, enjoys flowery scents and soaking in baths. And while she may come across as a glamorously cruel person, she really does have a twisted sense of justice- she enjoys rooting for the underdog and has absolutely no problem in making her opinions known to everyone around her. But of course, Roksana also suffers from a terrible case commitment phobia and has a hard time trusting people and understanding emotion and feelings. After all, dead spirits tend to be far less animated than the living, which she likes. She also tends to be exceedingly stubborn- once her mind is set on something, very few people in the world can convince her otherwise. behind all of that, Roksana is not quite as similar to her siblings as they'd prefer her to be.
All in all, Roksana is a fascinating and complicated young woman. She embodies the concept of the feme fetale and really is a royal, half-Iranian Morticia Adams. Known for her distinctive morbid glamour, Roksana is a deeply charismatic figure who usually captivates people's attentions regardless of whether they like it or not. All these attributes make Roksana an incredibly interesting figure. All these attributes are also reasons as to why Roksana doesn't have one, but two, smoking-hot Romanov heirs fighting for her affections. It's also why she's a beloved and inspiring figure among her circles and among the emigre communities in Europe that tend to be involved in activities that are not exactly socially acceptable.

    𝑺𝑻𝑼𝑫𝑬𝑵𝑻 𝑩𝑨𝑪𝑲𝑮𝑹𝑶𝑼𝑵𝑫

Roksana's history begins first with her past... rather her family's past. To put it simply, Roksana is the product of perhaps two of the most infamous magical lineages in all of human history- the Pahalvis of Iran, and the Yusupovs of Russia. Both sides of her family have highly experienced mages who specialize in various kinds of spiritual and elemental magic. The Pahlavi's of Iran can be traced back to ancient Persia and are widely considered to be one of the foundational magical families in the Islamic and Arabic world. The Yusupovs on the other hand, have a far more dangerous and depressing history. One of the richest noble families of imperial Russia, the Yusupovs are famous in human history for being exceedingly loyal to the Romanov monarchs. And no event symbolizes this better than Prince Felix's assassination of Rasputin at the Yusupov Palace in Russia. But that was not the only such event. In fact, the only reason as to why there is even a Romanov line today is because of the Yusupovs. They saved Alexei and Anastasia Romanov, and smuggled them to France, to safety. How they managed this is somewhat spectacular. No one really knows what exactly happened. But what is known for the fact is that the Yusupovs practiced a different kind of spiritual magic. A much more sinister one.
Because everything in her life absolutely has to be over-the-top and dramatic, Roksana's parents, Alexander Yusupov and Esfir Phalavi happened to meet each other one summery Parisian afternoon in the Louvre and began a whirlwind of a romance that led to their marriage. Or at least that is the story they told to everyone else. The truth was that Alexander and Esfir were familiar with each other- they had been for years actually. Since the 18th century, Paris had established itself to be somewhat of a diplomatic heaven. Thus, when the Russian Revolution (which really was instigated by hunters who hid behind the guise of communists) took place, several of the most powerful Russian nobles fled abroad- the Narshkiyaans, Yusupovs, and the Rohans to name a few. They established the infamous Émigré community in France. The Émigrés originally refereed to intellectuals who fled France during the French Revolution (which also was instigated by Hunters coincidentally). However, post the Russian Revolution, the term was used to describe rich nobles who had fled their respective countries for various reasons- political unrest and persecution usually topped the list. In Paris, the Émigrés became the heart of bourgeois culture and entertainment. They came to embody the concept of the "life of excess." But that was not all. The Émigré community was also infamous for being involved in less than savory activities- drugs, alcohol, organized crime, you name it. Close-knit by definition, the Pahlavis eventually joined the Émigrés in Paris after the Iranian Revolution (which also, was caused by the Hunters). And over the years, Alexander and Esfir became particularly close. Therefore, to the Émigrés, their marraige came as no surprise- after all, both were of royal blood. Why wouldn't they be married? Fast-forward a few years and Alexander and Esfir were the parents of 7 children, including Roksana.
As a child, Roksana was a favorite of her grandparents. This was due to several reasons, but the most important one was due to her magic. You see, Roksana was considered to be the "gifted child"- the one "chosen by death." From a very young age, Roksana could communicate with the dead. Because of this, it never actually bothered her. She grew up accepting dead spirits. To her, they were as real as the sunrise was. In fact, she found her self genuinely enjoying their company- she was never alone. As a child, Roksana often had trouble distinguishing between the dead and the living. She interacted with spirits so much that she she simply could not tell the difference. The only way she could was through physical touch- the living were warm and tangible, spirits were not. Thus, Roksana spent a lot of time hugging people as a child- very uncharacteristic. She didn't do it because she liked it. She did it because it was the only way she knew to distinguish between the dead and the living. And they were not as complicated as the living were- they never had agendas, and their emotions and feelings were quite easy to understand.
Truth be told, Roksana enjoyed the company of the dead. She found spirits to be comforting. They were not as complicated as the living were- they never had agendas, and their emotions and feelings were quite easy to understand. The living were not. Constantly having to wade through their complex emotions, feelings and agenda- it bored Roksana to be quite honest. Therefore, at the age of 14, Roksana got involved in the "family business," as her grandparents liked to call it. She learned that her Russian relatives were not just big vodka patrons, but they had other interests too. Interests that were sinister in nature. Interests that would help them understand their own history. Roksana learned that she was not the first of her family to be "kissed by death" like this. In fact, there were many, Felix Yusupov was the most notable one of course. Naturally, not all of her relatives were on the same page about her morbid interests. Her Pahlavi grandparents were particularly disturbed. The older Roksana grew, the more morbid her interests became- walking around in the dead of the night, dining in cemeteries, sleeping at morgues- she seemed to be genuinely comforted by the thought of death. And the environment at Raesiara did not help their cause. It was a bit of an open secret among the Émigrés that the Raesiara Institute for Spiritual Magic in Transylvania indulged in sinister practices, necromancy to be particular. Of course, there was no evidence of this. None that was useful anyway. But the fact was that the environment at Raesiara did play a big role in encouraging Roksana's morbid desires. However, it was not all bad. Roksana learned she loved horses, and caught the attention of the Romanov brothers, Vasily and Konstantin. Both of them would become her closest friends and confidants. After all, they did fully accept her for who she was, to the point that both declared their love to her. Naturally, Roksana being Roksana, played both of them for as long as she possibly could, toying with their feelings for her own amusement. And while she didn't really get any push-back from them, it did serve to ruin her already strained relationship with her sister, Anahita further. You see, Anahita was in love with Vasily, and had always been. Unfortunately, Vasily had eyes for only one woman- Roksana. And Roksana knew that all too well. At the age of 18, Roksana used Anahita's love for Vasily to sabotage her. That year, Roksana took everything that was dear to Anahita from her- she made sure that Anahita's grades fell, ruined her reputation, Vasily, isolated her from her friends- everything to remind Anahita that Roksana did not appreciate betrayal. Anahita had been the one who had informed her Pahlavi grandparents that Roksana was involved with necromancy and the occult. And Roksana would never forgive her for that.
Roksana's scheming destroyed Anahita. Anahita turned to drugs and alcohol to remedy the situation. And as Anahita spiraled out of control, Alexander and Esfir finally accepted that Roksana may have gone a little too far. Raesiara, as wonderful as it was, had been bringing out the worst in Roksana. Thus, they agreed that it was best if Roksana were sent to a more "positive environment"- Mei. Not only was Mei half way around the world, it was also exceedingly different from Raesiara in terms of both environment and classes. Lucky for them, Roksana accepted and moved to Mei willingly. As usual, she had other motives for being so cooperative. Roksana wanted to understand her magic- the reason why she could communicate with the dead so fluently, the reason why she felt so comfortable around them. She wanted to understand necromancy. She wanted to learn about new forms of magic. She wanted to control her power. She wanted to surpass her limits. She wanted to evolve. And Mei seemed to be the perfect place to do so.

Reputation at Mei: People avoid Roksana like the plague for two reasons- they feel uncomfortable around her, or they just find her terrifying. Roksana is not seen around the usual places, nor is she seen around the usual times. Leaving class, Roksana is seen most frequently after the sun sets- she finds the moonlight comforting, and enjoys the stillness of the night. She likes secluded forests, morgues and cemeteries. Coffee shops and malls are not her thing. And on the odd occasion that she is seen around in daylight, Roksana is always dressed in black, and is pretty much out of it. She talks to herself even when no one else is around. Of course, those who can see the dead know she converses with them. But even they find her acceptance of the dead uncomfortable.
