Menswear Fashion Shows trends!

  • Media and people talk about fashion trends all the time. But it’s always about women fashion trends. People consider male fashion a bit...boring: it’s just shirts, pants and sweaters, right? It can’t be wronger: today we will show you the interesting part of men’s fashion exploring Milan Menswear Fashion Shows trends!

THE GENERAL TRENDS: NEUTRAL COLORS, NEON DETAILS, MIX&MATCH OF SPORTY AND CLASSIC STYLE

Main colors are neutral ones. Brunello Cucinelli, for example, played a lot with camel, brown, grey, black and white, while Emporio Armani focused on darker shades, like black and grey, and Tod’s used also military green and dark blue. Touches of neon give light and modernity to this classic palette: Ralph Lauren and Fendi stayed classy with red shades; Prada and Iceberg played with colorful prints; Dolce and Gabbana played with metallic and sequined details; and Versace and MSGM both added lots of neon touches (yellow, blue, pink, orange and blue, even layered all together).

Talking about prints: we saw a lot in Milan’s looks. Ralph Lauren, Tod’s, Armani, Fendi chose classic plaid and checks. Iceberg, Versace, and MSGM went for bold pop prints; D&G and Emporio Armani decided to use animal touches – like leopard and snake.

Let’s focus on materials. Only MSGM used denim for its winter collection: the other designers played with wool, leather, velvet, and even fur details. Ralph Lauren teddy bear coati s as remarkable as Emporio Armani fur coats and sweaters. And, if Brunello Cucinelli and Tod’s went for the classic wool and knits, Dolce and Gabbana were bold with their brocade and sequins, and N.21, Fendi and Ermenegildo Zegna put a lot of leather – both matte and patent – on their runways.

And the general trend is to mix and match contrasting styles: so combat boots meet tuxedos at Ermenegildo Zegna, or classic suit pants meet studded shoes and printed tees at Versace. Fendi paired suits with baseball hats and sweaters with sheer panels, N.21 used leather shirts over suit checked pants. Brunello Cucinelli really rocked this mix and match trend, combining sweatpants with a white shirt and cardigan and complete sweatsuits with high-neck sweaters and classy leather weekenders, or layering sporty bomber gilet over a classic camel suit with black tie.

Designers also had fun adding some accessories we usually consider feminine, in men’s looks. For example, Fendi used colorful fannypacks, Emporio Armani added tote bag, and Ralph Lauren put waist belts around blazers.

Here is a slideshow of all the looks that impressed us the most. What’s your favorite?
