Thank you all so very much! I spent several hours in a local ER Friday night into Saturday morning because I wanted to know why I had swollen feet and legs with discoloration. My right foot was beet red and my left food had shades of blue and purple. I was worried about it being heart related because my paternal grandmother and father both had similar problems when they were around my age. Lucky for me, it was not as bad as I thought it was but bad enough to be treated.
The first doctor that saw me, after examining both feet and legs thought it could have been blood clots so he ordered an ultra sound done and a CAT scan. It turned out to be Cellulitis in my right leg, which is caused by bacteria. Cellulitis (sel-u-LIE-tis) is a common, potentially serious bacterial skin infection. The affected skin is swollen and inflamed and is typically painful and warm to the touch. But if severe or if left untreated, it can spread into the lymph nodes and bloodstream. I'm so happy I went to the ER and am now taking antibiotics to clear the infection!
Found on the left leg: Edema (as if I did not already have enough wrong with this leg). Edema can be caused by congestive heart failure and that is what I was afraid of. The doctor believes due to my inactivity due to my back and leg pain has caused this problem. I will need to go see a Vascular specialist that my family doctor recommends, which I will go see next week.
I will judge the contest later on today because I need to go to bed and rest.
