▏▏𝓦𝓲𝓽𝓬𝓱 𝓱𝓾𝓷𝓽𝓮𝓻𝓼 (okay, so technically sorcerer/sorceress hunters, but 'witch hunters' sounded better to said group of people and the name just stuck) have been around since the ancient times, though modern associations of witch hunters formed within the last two thousand years. There are a variety of 𝓱𝓾𝓷𝓽𝓮𝓻 𝓪𝓼𝓼𝓸𝓬𝓲𝓪𝓽𝓲𝓸𝓷𝓼 scattered around the world, and they are all very, very secretive. Hunters hold no qualms about meddling with non-magical affairs in order to achieve their goals; for example, it is widely known amongst the magical community that hunters played prominent parts in the Russian and Iranian Revolutions.

▏▏𝓗𝓾𝓷𝓽𝓮𝓻 "𝓰𝓮𝓷𝓮𝓼" are dominant (meaning that if a witch hunter and a normal human have a child, the child will inherit the hunter genes), and for the most part, witch hunters are the exact same as regular, non-magical humans. However, they seem to possess a preternatural sense for 𝓭𝓮𝓽𝓮𝓬𝓽𝓲𝓷𝓰 𝓶𝓪𝓰𝓲𝓬 (both in sorcerers and in objects or areas), and as such, many sorcerers and sorceresses have taken it upon themselves to strengthen their concealment charms and cast protective spells over their homes.

▏▏𝓣𝓱𝓮 𝓵𝓪𝓼𝓽 𝓫𝓲𝓰 𝓱𝓾𝓷𝓽𝓮𝓻 𝓪𝓽𝓽𝓪𝓬𝓴 was in 2017, on a magical school in Spain. Before that, many believed that the hunters had died off for good, thanks to modernization and globalization, as well as the fact that they had been quiet for 20 years.

▏▏𝓣𝓱𝓮 𝓼𝓹𝓲𝓻𝓲𝓽 𝔀𝓸𝓻𝓵𝓭 is an alternate plane that exists parallel but separate to the material world. Time flows in a circular fashion there, and it can and will change based on somebody's thoughts and emotions, so being in the spirit world can definitely be a disconcerting experience.

▏▏𝓣𝓱𝓮 𝓗𝓮𝓪𝓿𝓮𝓷𝓵𝔂 𝓡𝓲𝓿𝓮𝓻 divides the spirit world between the ground and the sky. 𝓟𝓸𝔀𝓮𝓻𝓯𝓾𝓵 𝓼𝓹𝓲𝓻𝓲𝓽𝓼 reside in the clouds, while 𝓽𝓱𝓮 𝓼𝓸𝓾𝓵𝓼 𝓸𝓯 𝓭𝓮𝓪𝓭 𝓹𝓮𝓸𝓹𝓵𝓮 reside on the ground. Living people traveling in and out of the spirit world will also stay on the ground.

▏▏𝓜𝓪𝓰𝓲𝓬𝓪𝓵 𝓬𝓻𝓮𝓪𝓽𝓾𝓻𝓮𝓼 mostly live in the spirit world, on both sides of the Heavenly River, but they are able to freely venture between the worlds.

Spoiler 𝓩𝓸𝓶𝓫𝓲𝓮𝓼, that is, people who have died and then been 𝓻𝓮𝓼𝓾𝓻𝓻𝓮𝓬𝓽𝓮𝓭, are basically re-animated corpses. They have no real bodily functions (they do not breathe, do not bleed, cannot give birth, do not truly need to eat or drink), and are basically powered by the magical energies keeping them anchored in the material world. They do not have a heartbeat, and animals tend to get nervous around them (especially dogs and other animals with a sharp sense of smell-they can smell the death on them). Without the right spells being performed during their resurrection, they will be physiologically unstable. Right now, the true maximum lifespan of somebody who has been resurrected is unknown. A sorcerer can resurrect someone as many times as they want, but the integrity of the person and their spirit and soul decreases exponentially with each subsequent resurrection.

𝓢𝓹𝓲𝓻𝓲𝓽𝓾𝓪𝓵 𝓶𝓪𝓰𝓲𝓬-𝔀𝓲𝓼𝓮, resurrected people are usually at a disadvantage. They are unable to resurrect other people and usually find that communicating with dead spirits and telling the future become harder. They cannot teleport on their own, though teleportation is possible if they are merely being teleported with another person. This is because they can't physically enter the spirit world again without something to tether or anchor them to the material world...unless they don't plan on coming back, of course.
