With the news from Wuya weighing her, Mina plucked two glasses of champagne from the passing trays. Downing one, she began to sip on the other. Despite enjoying a good party with plentiful refreshments, she can tell by reading the room that now isn't the time. Getting drunk won't solve any of her problems either, though it's a welcome escape. 𝒯𝒽𝑒𝓇𝑒'𝓈 𝒶𝓁𝓌𝒶𝓎𝓈 𝓉𝒾𝓂𝑒 𝓁𝒶𝓉𝑒𝓇, she reminds herself.
Ambling about, Mina looked from each involved conversation to the next, checking reactions. The news Wuya had told her was spreading like the Black Death, and she feels another wave of guilt. Selfishly, Mina complained, 𝒲𝒽𝓎 𝒹𝒾𝒹 𝓉𝑜𝓃𝒾𝑔𝒽𝓉 𝒽𝒶𝓋𝑒 𝓉𝑜 𝒷𝑒 𝓉𝒽𝑒 𝓃𝒾𝑔𝒽𝓉? 𝒲𝒽𝒶𝓉 𝒾𝓈 𝓉𝒽𝑒 𝓅𝑜𝒾𝓃𝓉 𝒾𝓃 𝒹𝒾𝓈𝒸𝓊𝓈𝓈𝒾𝓃𝑔 𝓉𝒽𝒾𝓈 𝓃𝑜𝓌? 𝐼𝓉'𝓈 𝒷𝑒𝑒𝓃 𝒽𝑒𝓇𝑒 𝒻𝑜𝓇 𝓉𝒽𝑒 𝓅𝒶𝓈𝓉 𝓉𝒽𝒾𝓇𝓉𝓎 𝓎𝑒𝒶𝓇𝓈. He looked off into space, perhaps searching for someone to talk with, and he wore his usual contemplative, wisened look. Already walking towards the decadent wall he leaned against, Mina hoisted her twilight blue dress, with pounds of crystal hand-sewn in by herself, and grabbed another glass, hoping Bahlu might, at the very least, appreciate the gesture.
Holding the crystal cup out to him, she smirked, slightly, and said, "𝐻ey old man..." She laughed at her own joke. "𝒞ould you use some company?"
She was acting too jovial, but it was rare she ever communicated with people she genuinely enjoyed speaking to. Bahlu had been a comforting presence in her life since she left her family. Teaching her his infinite wisdoms concerning interaction with humans, he may not have kept her from past mistakes, but he was always there when she broke her own heart or, in her own words, committed a "massive fuck up." Given that and Wuya's news, Bahlu was just the person to talk to.... Read more
