It was late middle school when young Ruby met Leia. They grew up in the same classes but rarely talked. That was until one day in science class, the teacher asked the class to partner up for a project. Leia’s “boyfriend” at the time was jumping up and down at the thought of working with Leia. By Leia’s facial expressions Ruby could tell she was uncomfortable. So like any empathetic human would do Ruby barged her way into the desk beside Leia and insisted they be partners. The two’s everlasting friendship stood the test of the switch from middle school to high school. During Freshman year Leia invited Ruby into the Lazy Daisy Crew and the rest is history.

𝑾𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒂𝒔 𝑩𝒍𝒖𝒎
𝐻𝑜𝓌 𝓉𝒽𝑒𝓎 𝓂𝑒𝓉: They met after Leia and Ruby became friends. They didn’t actually become “close” until Ru joined LDC.
𝐻𝑜𝓌 𝓉𝒽𝑒𝓎 𝒶𝒸𝓉 𝒶𝓇𝑜𝓊𝓃𝒹 𝑜𝓃𝑒 𝒶𝓃𝑜𝓉𝒽𝑒𝓇: Ruby and Wallas have a cute lil friendship. The two journalists love to obsess over the smallest desk supplies together: pens, notebooks, planners, everything. Anytime they find a cool new store or online shop with some dope stationery supplies, the two grab their bags and jump in the car to go check it out. The rest of the crew thinks they’re insane because of how much time they spend talking about pens, fonts, and color schemes. Sometimes Ru can get to be a bit much for wallas sometimes, but when can she not?
𝐻𝑜𝓌 𝓉𝒽𝑒𝓎 𝒶𝒸𝓉 𝒾𝓃 𝓉𝒽𝑒 𝐿𝒟𝒞 𝓉𝑜𝑔𝑒𝓉𝒽𝑒𝓇: Since Ruby is an all-time professional at making vision boards and journaling and Wallas likes to collage pictures on her friends’ walls maybe they could be the two that make cute things randomly for their friends and are ALWAYS making posters for their friends during their sports games or extracurricular activities?
𝒯𝒽𝑒𝒾𝓇 𝒻𝒶𝓋𝑜𝓇𝒾𝓉𝑒 𝓉𝒽𝒾𝓃𝑔𝓈 𝒶𝒷𝑜𝓊𝓉 𝑜𝓃𝑒 𝒶𝓃𝑜𝓉𝒽𝑒𝓇: Wallas seems like someone who really cares about others. Maybe even more than herself sometimes? Which can (almost) be said about Ruby as well. Though Ruby definitely shows it in different ways. (Mostly it’s just her pushing people into doing things she thinks will help them.) so maybe just maybe hanging around each other Wallas can you nudge Ru into maybe expressing her concern in a better way? Ruby’s way of including/looking out for people is probably the reason most people see her as a bitch. She’s pushy and annoying to strangers. In relation to Wallas she’s the worst, but she does have good intentions.
𝐼𝓃𝓈𝒾𝒹𝑒 𝒿𝑜𝓀𝑒𝓈: Something definitely around the way they got their principal to agree with them. Probably the way their face looked when the girls argued about equal rights.
𝐵𝒾𝑔𝑔𝑒𝓈𝓉 𝒻𝒾𝑔𝒽𝓉(𝓈): While Wallas is the most friendly conversationalist around, sometimes Ruby’s pep can be a bit much for her. The eye-roll qween (as wallas would say) really needs to work to hide them sometimes. Wallas can be a giggly ray of sunshine but she needs her time off from that. She tends to be the most ridiculous and goofy girl with the crew but always calms down a bit when it gets too exhausting. It’s at those moments that she needs a second to step away from Ruby Hodge.
𝑀𝑒𝓂𝑜𝓇𝒶𝒷𝓁𝑒 𝓂𝑜𝓂𝑒𝓃𝓉𝓈: Some very very drunk conversations about the universe. Creators mischief around school. The two persuading the school’s principal to let the school’s cheer team cheer at all sports games.
𝑅𝑒𝓁𝒶𝓉𝒾𝑜𝓃𝓈𝒽𝒾𝓅𝓈 𝓌𝒾𝓉𝒽 𝑜𝓃𝑒 𝒶𝓃𝑜𝓉𝒽𝑒𝓇'𝓈 𝒻𝒶𝓂𝒾𝓁𝒾𝑒𝓈: Ruby’s friendly and probably says hello when they pass in public, but she’s not super close with them. She’s polite and nice when she visits Wallas’ house.

𝐻𝑜𝓌 𝓉𝒽𝑒𝓎 𝓂𝑒𝓉: It was late middle school when young Ruby met Leia. They grew up in the same classes but rarely talked. 𝐻𝑜𝓌 𝓉𝒽𝑒𝓎 𝒶𝒸𝓉 𝒶𝓇𝑜𝓊𝓃𝒹 𝑜𝓃𝑒 𝒶𝓃𝑜𝓉𝒽𝑒𝓇: Giggles and secrets secrets secrets. The two are the ones who often get called out in class to separate. Mumbling ‘your dad’ jokes during serious moments. They go to each other for advice and honestly just for someone to lend an ear. They know each other in and out. Leia continues to try and set Ru up but honestly, it’s easier to climb mt Everest. Also skipping hand in hand down school halls.
𝐻𝑜𝓌 𝓉𝒽𝑒𝓎 𝒶𝒸𝓉 𝒾𝓃 𝓉𝒽𝑒 𝐿𝒟𝒞 𝓉𝑜𝑔𝑒𝓉𝒽𝑒𝓇: Ruby has never been more surprised in her life than when Leia invited her into the famous LDC. Ruby is closest with Leia in the LDC. They are usually the ones brightening up moods or bringing the laughter.
𝒯𝒽𝑒𝒾𝓇 𝒻𝒶𝓋𝑜𝓇𝒾𝓉𝑒 𝓉𝒽𝒾𝓃𝑔𝓈 𝒶𝒷𝑜𝓊𝓉 𝑜𝓃𝑒 𝒶𝓃𝑜𝓉𝒽𝑒𝓇: Ruby is amazed at how easily Leia can talk to others. She’d be lying if she said she wasn’t a bit jealous of it. It’s a skill Ru has yet to acquire. Leia’s popularity is based off having friends everywhere. That’s something Ru wishes she could say but her own self-doubt and attitude get in the way
𝐼𝓃𝓈𝒾𝒹𝑒 𝒿𝑜𝓀𝑒𝓈: TBD
𝐵𝒾𝑔𝑔𝑒𝓈𝓉 𝒻𝒾𝑔𝒽𝓉(𝓈): I have no idea what their biggest fight could be. Maybe one of the times Ru is moody and she says the wrong thing to Leia probably something secret related that Leia entrusted her with. I can see their families being friendly towards each other. Is Leia’s family religious? Maybe the two families bond over church and ru and le can gain hours by volunteering at the church.
𝑀𝑒𝓂𝑜𝓇𝒶𝒷𝓁𝑒 𝓂𝑜𝓂𝑒𝓃𝓉𝓈: NHS volunteering, Daily laughing fits, The moment Leia changed Ruby’s life and invited her into LDC.

𝐻𝑜𝓌 𝓉𝒽𝑒𝓎 𝓂𝑒𝓉: Ruby met Lily sometime during freshman year. Right after she joins LDC.
𝐻𝑜𝓌 𝓉𝒽𝑒𝓎 𝒶𝒸𝓉 𝒶𝓇𝑜𝓊𝓃𝒹 𝑜𝓃𝑒 𝒶𝓃𝑜𝓉𝒽𝑒𝓇: Ruby and Lily rarely spend time together outside of the group and if they do it’s never alone. There’s always someone with them. The only time they really connect is when they’ve both got bad ideas and they encourage each other to do them. Usually with alcohol in hand.
𝐻𝑜𝓌 𝓉𝒽𝑒𝓎 𝒶𝒸𝓉 𝒾𝓃 𝓉𝒽𝑒 𝐿𝒟𝒞 𝓉𝑜𝑔𝑒𝓉𝒽𝑒𝓇: Devious. Nothing extreme. The two alcohol-infused girls are usually up to no good. Though many of the duo’s relationship involves alcohol there’s a big majority that doesn’t. When not you can catch Lil shouting at Ruby for her potty mouth. You will ALWAYS catch lily shit-talking Adrian around Ruby. Lily dislikes Adrian and she will never let Ruby forget it.

𝐻𝑜𝓌 𝓉𝒽𝑒𝓎 𝓂𝑒𝓉: They met when ru joined LDC. She’d never actually talked to Mali before joining.
𝐻𝑜𝓌 𝓉𝒽𝑒𝓎 𝒶𝒸𝓉 𝒶𝓇𝑜𝓊𝓃𝒹 𝑜𝓃𝑒 𝒶𝓃𝑜𝓉𝒽𝑒𝓇: Basic squad action. The kind of close only knowing someone for 3 years, but not actually knowing someone. In recent light of feelings for the same boy their relationship towards each other grow distant and rocky.
𝐻𝑜𝓌 𝓉𝒽𝑒𝓎 𝒶𝒸𝓉 𝒾𝓃 𝓉𝒽𝑒 𝐿𝒟𝒞 𝓉𝑜𝑔𝑒𝓉𝒽𝑒𝓇: The girls never hang out together. You’ll only see the two hanging out with other members of LDC if they are together.
𝒯𝒽𝑒𝒾𝓇 𝒻𝒶𝓋𝑜𝓇𝒾𝓉𝑒 𝓉𝒽𝒾𝓃𝑔𝓈 𝒶𝒷𝑜𝓊𝓉 𝑜𝓃𝑒 𝒶𝓃𝑜𝓉𝒽𝑒𝓇: Ruby is fascinated by the way Mali can keep it together all the time. She’s never once seen Mali stress over the loads of school work that’s given to her. From what Ruby can see Mali is extremely gifted. School seems to come easy to Mali.
𝐼𝓃𝓈𝒾𝒹𝑒 𝒿𝑜𝓀𝑒𝓈: “Remember that one time a guy tried to mansplain what cheerleading is” “Damn girl, wanna give me the answers?” Referring to some homework they once had to hand in for a class. Mali did hers, but somehow Ru forgot to do hers.

𝑅𝑒𝓁𝒶𝓉𝒾𝑜𝓃𝓈𝒽𝒾𝓅𝓈 𝓌𝒾𝓉𝒽 𝑜𝓃𝑒 𝒶𝓃𝑜𝓉𝒽𝑒𝓇'𝓈 𝒻𝒶𝓂𝒾𝓁𝒾𝑒𝓈: Cordial. She’s never at mali’s house and if she is then it's because of LDC. She doesn’t personally know them and doesn’t plan to.

𝐻𝑜𝓌 𝓉𝒽𝑒𝓎 𝓂𝑒𝓉: They met in third grade right after Kala moved to Glenville.
𝐻𝑜𝓌 𝓉𝒽𝑒𝓎 𝒶𝒸𝓉 𝒶𝓇𝑜𝓊𝓃𝒹 𝑜𝓃𝑒 𝒶𝓃𝑜𝓉𝒽𝑒𝓇: Friendly, almost like acquaintances. They nod to each other in the hallways at school. Outside of church-related activities, they don’t really hang out unless Ru drags kala out of her house.
𝐻𝑜𝓌 𝓉𝒽𝑒𝓎 𝒶𝒸𝓉 𝒾𝓃 𝓉𝒽𝑒 𝐿𝒟𝒞 𝓉𝑜𝑔𝑒𝓉𝒽𝑒𝓇: Kala isn’t in LDC as of now. Ru is her ticket in. It will take more than a couple of hangouts and church-related nights out to pull her in. It will take some time, but I can see Ruby hyping up Kala to her friends so that they can see how great she is. Maybe just maybe they’d invite her in.
𝒯𝒽𝑒𝒾𝓇 𝒻𝒶𝓋𝑜𝓇𝒾𝓉𝑒 𝓉𝒽𝒾𝓃𝑔𝓈 𝒶𝒷𝑜𝓊𝓉 𝑜𝓃𝑒 𝒶𝓃𝑜𝓉𝒽𝑒𝓇: Ruby loves the fact that they can bond overstudying and volunteer work. Ruby is never alone in anything she does. Having Kala around during church and other things her friends aren’t apart of is a godsend to Ru.
𝐼𝓃𝓈𝒾𝒹𝑒 𝒿𝑜𝓀𝑒𝓈: “Revival” and some crazy stories from the annual summer camp the church drags them to.
𝐵𝒾𝑔𝑔𝑒𝓈𝓉 𝒻𝒾𝑔𝒽𝓉(𝓈): Ruby doesn’t make new girl friends very easily. Mostly because she’s had a lot of fake friends who just wanted to get to her brother. She’s seen it all. Fake giggles and coming over on weekends to stare at Matthew instead of talking to Ru. It’s the number one reason she’s vowed to make sure new people in her life are CAREFULLY screened. Ru’s known Kala for almost all of her life. When she finds out Kala had a crush on Matt (maybe even kissed him) she goes berzerk. She feels betrayed and hurt, but she won't show just how hurt she is.
𝑀𝑒𝓂𝑜𝓇𝒶𝒷𝓁𝑒 𝓂𝑜𝓂𝑒𝓃𝓉𝓈: Nights by the fire at church camps. Whispering secrets to each other during sermons. Winking at each other when they hear a “that’s what he/she said” moment.
𝑅𝑒𝓁𝒶𝓉𝒾𝑜𝓃𝓈𝒽𝒾𝓅𝓈 𝓌𝒾𝓉𝒽 𝑜𝓃𝑒 𝒶𝓃𝑜𝓉𝒽𝑒𝓇'𝓈 𝒻𝒶𝓂𝒾𝓁𝒾𝑒𝓈: The Hodges and Larssons are closer than any of the other families in the LDC. The Larssons are constantly over at the Hodges house having dinners or just planning out church things. Though it’s rare Kala comes over sometimes she can’t get out of it. The Hodge family is definitely that family that holds large family dinners and always invites everyone over. Though they seem nice and Christian they start gossiping as soon as the last guest leaves the house. So they would definitely have some things to say about the Larrsons they obviously would never come out and say it but a little hint here and a little jab here. Their parents are always at games for Andrew and ruby.

𝐻𝑜𝓌 𝓉𝒽𝑒𝓎 𝓂𝑒𝓉: Since they are both good friends with Leia maybe they met before Stassi joined LDC?? Maybe a movie night with Leia or a small hangout Ruby was surprisingly invited to?
𝐻𝑜𝓌 𝓉𝒽𝑒𝓎 𝒶𝒸𝓉 𝒶𝓇𝑜𝓊𝓃𝒹 𝑜𝓃𝑒 𝒶𝓃𝑜𝓉𝒽𝑒𝓇: I really wanna see Ruby and Stassi as shopping buddies. Them crushing down isles and popping up behind the other with a crazy hat or sunglasses on? Well thanks to Wallas and Ruby the cheer team cheers for all school sports teams (including lacrosse) so maybe Ru can be Stassi’s number one fan? If this is totally out of character let me know!! I’m just dropping ideas!
𝐻𝑜𝓌 𝓉𝒽𝑒𝓎 𝒶𝒸𝓉 𝒾𝓃 𝓉𝒽𝑒 𝐿𝒟𝒞 𝓉𝑜𝑔𝑒𝓉𝒽𝑒𝓇: Super comfortable. They definitely have solo hangouts. Maybe even weekly sleepovers with girlie gossip and movies?? They give each other the amount of courage they may need to do something. Maybe Ru even lets Stassi drive Agnes every once and awhile??
𝒯𝒽𝑒𝒾𝓇 𝒻𝒶𝓋𝑜𝓇𝒾𝓉𝑒 𝓉𝒽𝒾𝓃𝑔𝓈 𝒶𝒷𝑜𝓊𝓉 𝑜𝓃𝑒 𝒶𝓃𝑜𝓉𝒽𝑒𝓇: Ruby loves the way Stassi is so undoubtedly sure about herself. Stassi is empowered by her own identity and Ruby is so proud but also kind of jealous that she’s not as sure of herself as Stassi is.

⇝ Nicholas Bender. The name leaves familiar butterflies in Ruby’s stomach. All throughout high school, she’s watched girl after girl go after Nicky and they’ve all either failed or didn’t last long. Not that it was their fault. Nicky’s just not one to settle down. It’s a high school baby! Live it up! Ruby’s not sure if her newfound attraction is just a result of her hormones or the sheer fact that he’s basically unattainable. At least that’s how he appears, but she knows different. She’s been best friends with the boy for almost 2 years now.

⇝ Adrian’s the boy next door type. Someone who’s always looking out for you and always has your back. He’s overflowing with charm and witts. He’s the kind of guy you take home to your parents. Ruby would lie if she says she’s never thought about it. They were a thing during the end of middle school and it somehow ran into highschool. Quite recently (over the summer) Ruby broke off their little “relationship” if you could call it that. No one knew what they were, but everyone knew they were together, ya know?
