This made it much easier to fake the ghosts talking to them. Felicity might have turned to Fee; however, her father was a bit worried about the marketing standpoint of that. Thus, she has gone by Faye ever since she was ten years old, a moniker she still uses often because of the brand attached to it.

    β €β €β € β €Three separate locations. Queenstown, New Zealand. Damascus, Syria. Essex, England. Three different timezones. 21:07. 10:07. 08:07. One date. 21st December 2007. Without the internet, no one would have noticed. Three seemingly unconnected videos of three different young girls having strange and violent outbursts in public were all miraculously caught on film and uploaded to various corners of the web. Seizures, most would say. Possession, others dared to speculate. The term going viral didn't exist yet, but that is what happened to these videos once someone realized they all happened at the exact same time. Conspiracy theories danced in the comments; viewers wondered what would happen if this trio were to be brought together. Though some warned it would bring about the apocalypse, a few speculators were daring enough to taunt such a fate. A British television production agency got in touch with each of the families, inviting them for a meet-up in London. All expenses would be paid, so long as they had the sole filming rights to what happened when the now-infamous trio met.

    β €β €β € β €That auspicious day marked the beginning of Faye's career into the murky waters of fame. The first time Felicity, Sage, and Tessa were in the same room, the world did not end . . . but a few theatrics did wonders in making it seem like something had shifted. The two-hour "documentary" followed their conversation, in which they appeared to know many more facts about the others than they should've been able to. { The long flights were perfect for briefing. } They all went to the doctor to see if they really did have any conditions that would cause seizures; the group tested negative on everything one could think of. And then, they faced their first test: visiting an infamous, haunted location to get in touch with anything that resided therein. Their work at The Langham Hotel from that day put them on the map. Despite decades of investigations, so clear a connection had never been established as had been by the trio. Though a connection to what was left unclear, something for the viewer to interpret on their own. Yet none could deny that their work showed promise. It was almost like destiny itself had woven them together.

    β €β €β € β €That first shot on the screen went off better than expected, and a tv series was ordered shortly thereafter. Their show,The Fates, documented their travels around the world to help international clients understand the spirits { or what have you } around them ━ sometimes to banish them, other times to live in harmony with them. It became a staple across The History Channel's international networks, most especially its UK branch. It has been said { mainly by Faye and Tess' parents } that the girls are hypersensitive to the supernatural. This is especially heightened when all of them are together.

    β €β €β € β €Faye Swan was not renowned on her own; rather, she was part of a package deal alongside the other two girls. It bothered her father much more than her at first, but even she began to be disappointed in this fact eventually ━ what with him filling her head with endless fantasies. The girls were not allowed to take "ghost calls" that did not get filmed. And the fee for their services was growing exponentially. Though The Fates did not receive universal recognition and the girls were far from being household names, their entire lives were dominated by the show.

    β €β €β € β €So when it was abruptly and dramatically shut down, Faye's world stopped spinning. Sure, she had plans to go off on her own, to be famous by herself . . . but it was an entirely different matter to be pushed off the edge without a parachute. It was clear that the mystique of the girls had been fading. The older they got, the less . . . innocent it all seemed. The world didn't care for them as much when it was faced with the complicated reality of teenagers trying to find their way. What they wanted to see ━ perfect angels of light pushing back against the dark ━ fit with the reality in front of them less and less. But the scandal behind the cancellation skyrocketed their names to renown in a manner that Faye had never wanted.

    β €β €β € β €She took a few years "off," away from everything. She tried to go home to New Zealand, but it felt different. Nothing like home. So she bounced around instead. Sometimes people would recognize her. At first, she would deny it or hide. But the sting of The Fates ending eventually dwindled; people were less cruel with their words. So long as someone was mostly polite, she didn't mind the occasional photo-op. She could even make a bit of cash reading tarot when she wanted. But the world mostly lost track of her for a bit, all by her and her father's design. Everyone needed to forget what happened ━ to only remember the cute little girls who could connect with ghosts. When the time came, her return would be glorious; Faye would rise higher than ever before. But reality, once more, rattled the cage of her perfect plan.

    β €β €β € β €In the wake of losing her father, Faye opened up the doors to global scrutiny once more. It was far from being the homecoming she expected. The weight of grief sat heavily on her; this time, it was clear her desire to understand the Other Side was more personal, fervent. She takes house calls, mostly in and around where she lives. But New England has plenty of haunted halls to explore. Although her Youtube channel hardly has the reach that The Fates once boasted of, it gives Faye a small bit of infamy. And this time, she doesn't have to share it. Her two crew members have no interest in her spotlight. { Which is a good thing, considering how dimly it shines these days. } Faye knows she is "famous" for all the wrong reasons . . . she doesn't even believe in ghosts. But this is the only thing she has ever succeeded in, and she can't let it go. Especially now. It is her father's legacy as much as hers. Now that he is gone, is this not the biggest piece of him she has left?

    β €β €β € β €Part of the magic that Sage, Faye, and Tess had in being supernatural investigators was their own innocence. That may have been what drew spirits to them so strongly: knowing they were pure of heart and intention. { Insert eye roll here. } The Fates did have the help of a regular crew; however, it also was known for its controversial decision to involve other young people in the production as well. They said this was key to not compromising or tainting the work that the trio themselves were doing. The other children who worked on set would come and go quite often. Few parents had the cutthroat desire to put their little ones through it, and those that did wanted their child to gain more infamy than what these roles offered. Nonetheless, the show's unconventional approach did allow for the main three girls to have at least a few more connections with children their own age than they otherwise would have . . .

    𝐒𝐀𝐆𝐄 𝐆𝐀𝐋𝐋𝐀𝐆𝐇𝐄𝐑 ✦ Daughter of two well-established and well-respected university professors, one would never know that they are some of the most fervent believers in the supernatural that the world has ever known. Sage's mother specialized in psychology, whilst her father worked in anthropology. Their advanced specialties meant they were often touring for lectures and other important events. And when they traveled, they always brought their daughter β€” showing her the wonders of the world even before her time on The Fates. They were on such a trip at Damascus University when the trio's inciting incident occurred. As for the opportunity of the show, Dr. and Dr. Gallagher saw it as a way to finally showcase the truth, to find what was out there in a concrete way. They firmly believed their daughter was the key to it all. But their reputation as logical, upstanding academics is part of what ruined Sage as well; they were able to get away with whatever they wanted. They weren't the neighborhood kooks; Sage didn't need rescuing from them. She was a gifted girl, albeit slightly peculiar, with the same brilliance they had. And she flourished as the leader of the famous trio; her quirks added to the charm of it all. That bright red hair was an unmistakable trademark of the era as a girl who deserved to have it all. Like her parents, Sage fully believed in Something Else . . . that she could connect with The Beyond. Substance abuse came early; when she stopped being able to deliver the same level of convincing performances, she scrambled for anything that would save her. Her parents did not want "their work" defiled, so they did not let her get help. It was brushed under the rug and ignored β€” until it couldn't be. Until all the lies came tumbling out at once. Sage spent years in rehab, and on the other side of things, she claimed to no longer believe in the supernatural. Her parents had already scorned her; they had not visited once during her recovery. But this, for them, was the nail in the coffin. They disowned her shortly after these statements went public. Sage's life became startlingly normal. She worked at a bookstore, attended her support groups, and volunteered in her spare time. She was pursuing an associate's degree. Sage even had a boy-next-door type of boyfriend, who had a ring in his pocket and picket-fence dreams on his mind. The craziness of her youth was behind her; it was a door sealed shut. Until . . . it wasn't.
    { Maryel Sousa }

    𝐓𝐄𝐒𝐒𝐀 𝐁𝐄𝐍𝐍𝐄𝐓𝐓 ✦ Behind closed doors, Faye was always quick to say how she never believed in what the girls were doing. However, Tess and Sage felt very differently. They really believed. Sage was brainwashed by her parents, yet Tessa came to such conclusions on her own. She was a rather precocious child who developed at least twelve imaginary friends. Even before that mysterious seizure and her time on the show, Tess had multiple instances in her childhood that she felt were . . . impossible to explain. Her parents were always quick to dismiss things as leaking pipes, old floorboards, or windows that needed replacing. Tessa felt like she was being shunned and looked down upon. Why did no one ever listen to her? What should have been a quiet suburban life was shattered for good when that video of her went viral, and that feeling still haunts her. It wasn't a seizure. She was incredibly conscious. Tessa is convinced that Something caused that reaction, Something that may still very well be stuck inside her . . . inside all of them. Despite her fervent belief in the supernatural, Tessa has always been the calmest and most level-headed of the girls. She has a gravelly voice that many have said was made for the stage. While Sage took on the role of wild ringleader and Faye went for ostentatious non-believer that would happily mock the spirits until they revealed something, Tessa remained still amidst their polarized storm. She has always been on the spiritual side, with her little superstitions and rituals she still adheres to, and she finds most people feel relaxed just being in her presence. Tessa vibes as incredibly intelligent, and it's true that she is. She is well-read and can have fascinating conversations. However, she flunked out of university when she tried to go. She is not meant to focus on one thing; rather, she wants to follow her passions and interests where they take her. The Fates was the only thing she truly committed to, and since then, she has refused to be tied down. These days, Tessa prefers to pretend like she was never a renowned paranormal investigator. Her parents were right; it was always a mistake. So why didn't they try harder to stop her? It was like they gave up on saving her. They had a perfect child in her older brother; if she was going to run about and ruin her old life, that was her problem. She doesn't want to admit their warnings came back to haunt her, especially when she still believes that there is Something out there, maybe even Something in her. Tessa just isn't sure she wants to find out what it is anymore. What if she does something to stir the sleeping beast, and this time, it isn't her that wakes up from that seizure?
