Hey there!
I believe you misunderstood my ethusiasm over your Set. Upon seeing it, and its title, I immediately thought of the Diablo Video Game Series and I asked you about it. You replied: You are correct. The name came to me from the Diablo PC game series but the idea behind the picture came from watching the 1945 movie "The Picture of Dorian Gray". While you don't see King Leoric in his human form, the picture shows what he was becoming in his corruption through Diablo.
I've been playing Diablo since it first came out and in all these years, I never made the connection to "Dorian Gray" that you did; and I found your perspective to be brilliant! Your Set appealed to me before you explained the mental "blending" of the video game with your love for the classic movie. It was the Diablo aspect that excited me, and the association you made that impressed me. (I would love to hold a Diablo-Doll Contest, where members create a classic character and show off its special skills, yet I feel that would require too much "studying" for those unfamiliar with the game.)
God bless your father for encouraging you to develop a healthy interest in the macabre! Like you, I love Classic movies and, also like you, I'm thrilled we can stream what we want whenever we want. It's a whole new world from when we were kids! "The Picture of Dorian Gray" recently played on a local channel for Halloween -- several times, in fact. I watched it twice and later saw @Joanne's Set, which compelled to create this contest. Check it out!
This takes nothing away from your "King Leoric, The Skeleton King" Set. I love it, and have collected it!
I also just collected "Atlantean Guardian" for one of my "Sensational Sets" Collections, all of which I'm in the process of updating. So keep 'em coming! I'd love to see what you might create for this contest!
Best!
